Good grief

I'm 11 minutes into the Fox Sports show and barely a mention of Real. They've had news on golf, some chick race car driver, etc. But come on, the biggest win so far of Utah's other professional team and it's not top tier? Lame.

Yeah, I can understand the NBA playoffs going first, but c'mon...

Looks like they got about 15 seconds of coverage.

But that's ok...Checketts on 5 as we speak...

Runge and Joe Wren don't get soccer whatsoever. We're getting a new 2nd sports guy here in a week, and I'll see what I can do to convert him. Hopefully he has a little bit of a clue. I've been trying for weeks just to get Joe Wren not to call Eddie Pope a centerfielder on air.

"Centerfielder" is cute. I like it.

I'm also dismayed at times by how far down the ladder RSL comes. It's major league but plays second fiddle to stuff that I think, "Does ANYBODY care about that or are they just trying to say they hate soccer by putting that first??"

We need to continue to send positive feedback to those stations that make RSL a priority.

How about a weekly ranking of how the various media outlets did the previous week in RSL/MLS coverage? TV (and print) news types often understand rankings if they are in a simple list, and don't want to be behind their competitors in anything....which might have a small effect on how they place soccer coverage.

"Loyalists Media Outlet of the Week", or something like that. I'm sure we could get a better acronym. I would even be willing to mail out a congrats form letter (with the week in question's date) to the "winning" media outlet.

I have seen this work for sports coverage in other markets.

I think that's a brilliant idea.

Old Ska:

Post a poll every week on the forum asking people who they think should be the "Media of the Week" or whatever... That's a good way to make your choice. πŸ™‚
