Comedy Gold on 1640!

On the way home, I was listening to the local Radio Unica affiliate when David Kifuri, the station's very entertaining owner came on.

He said that RSL had complained to the league because 1640 was carrying Your Last Place Chivas USA games. RSL's Spanish language station is 1600 . RSL has exclusive rights to MLS broadcasts in the area, it seems. Including other teams.

Kifuri said some very humorous things!

-Chivas USA is the best team in the league.

-RSL does not have any Hispanic players.

-Chivas is not only Mexico's favorite team, it's also the favorite of Argentineans, Colombians, etc.

He made fun of RSL and said that RSL is running to complain because they have to face some (his words, not mine) competition.

Assuming this isn't a Vergara/Checketts Troll Setup, my theory is that RSL should let 1640 broacast Goats Lite.

Listening to, watching & broadcasting Chivas USA is its own punishment.

They probably just want to get their $$$ out of the deal. They own the rights to MLS broadcasts in the area... that includes Goats Lite. They just want the $$$ that Goats Lite is getting from the local market.

But, as far as competition, we will see what happens this weekend wont we.

Isn't Sergio Flores the only hispanic player on RSL?

"Acosta" could be a Portuguese or Philippino name but it doesn't matter.

It would only matter to you work for a radio station that practices ethnic pandering, advocates campaign finance law violations and is close to last place in the ratings while broadcasting a bankrupt network's programs.

We have a Radio Unica affilliate? Huh.

As long as they're drawing fans to MLS, that's great. But I could see how RSL would be upset for games such as this weekend's...

David Kifuri was on again yesterday.

He wasn't as funny, though. Only one "this is a good decision for those that like good soccer.".

He said that MLS had officially decided that Your Almost Last Place 1640 could broadcast Your Last Place Chivas USA's games.

I should have posted this before the game. But 1640 ran an ad for the RSL - Metros game.

And I have not heard any ads recently for Chivas' ads.

I've been riding my bike to work recently, so I don't listen as often as I used to when it was raining every day.

Maybe 1640 has figured out that Chivas USA has the potential to kill all interest in soccer.
