I will. But trust me...setting the standard as "Just translate to the best of your abilities" is dooming you (us) to embarassment.

Yeah, I guess I am gloomy about this. Thanks for putting up with it. We just had a job that we had to do for an MLS team that first used a "Spanish speaker" (someone's cousin who was in the peace corps or something). It was absolutely hilarious...among other things "fans" was translated as "ventiladores". (However, the humor came only because it was for a team I dislike as a supporter of RSL.) Tell you guys what, once we actually have something, I'll post a link to it here first before we publish, then you can critique it.
Fair enough? So much pressure on fuegote and allianze now.

Excellent solution. On my I end I promise our proofreading will be kind and constructive. No pressure on anyone, the important thing is to get it done well, and I think this set-up will achieve that.

Don't get me wrong. I am not personally attacking anyone, and I think the proposed solution will work well for the Loyalist web page. Let the brothers go at it, and we will have a native Spanish speaking professional translator proof it.
It is standard policy in the translation world to have translation work be done by a native speaker only. No offense meant to anyone, I myself would not translate into a language that is not my native one (and like I said earlier, I teach a foreign language at a 6th/7th semester university level, and have a PhD in it). If anyone is feeling really awkward about it I will also willingly buzz off on this issue. After all, it is just the page for the supporters club of a soccer team. I probably just need to keep that in perspective, huh?

But when the Brothers do get back to us, we'll post it for your approval. 🙂

Alianza and fuegote -
They may have a point. Granted, we do speak Spanish, but you have to admit it's limited. What we should do is do the web work, (whatever that is - that's where you come in fuegote), translate the best we can and have one of our native spanish speakers critique it and make any adjustments before it goes online. whaddya think?
