Only rumors, but I heard Checketts is supposed to make some sort of anouncement at the end of summer. That's the latest I've heard.
Hopefully after the opener, the WQC, and a trip to the playoffs some investors will start whistling a different tune.

Suggested banner for 30 April:

WE'RE RSL FANS, AND WE VOTE

Of course, some of us vote in California, but the message is the same.

Keep up the pressure . . .

Patience, patience. Checketts has commissioned a study to see how other states have financed their stadiums. Since RDA funds are no longer available he needs to be more creative. But, he is still committed to a stadium downtown. Were it not so, he would have already broke ground in Murray…

Yes, good observation regarding downtown. Our leader is indeed fearless. Keep up the good fight, Dave!

Let's not forget that significant portions of a certain block downtown all of a sudden mysteriously got torn up too...

Maybe Earl Holding's building me a lake so I don't have to slither so far for games.

Oh yeah I nearly forgot!
as reported on x96 this morning, Did you guys know that there is an an expected $200,000,000.00 surplus in state tax income this year. A tax surplus for the 3rd consecutive year.

In over simplified terms... Does this mean that we have the money to build 9 Soccer Specific Stadiums without paying a cent in extra taxes just from this past year?

Somebody explain this to me... like you guys did on the whole "RDA=Education money" thing!
Thanks in advance!

I drive by that block every day on my way to work. And they are definitely building something there. I don't think that it is a stadium though. I would imagine that they would have to do some major digging to get that done, but they are building something on top of the ground.

It makes me wonder because whatever they are just building now will have to be torn up to put the stadium there if that is where it is going. Why would they build something there just to tear it up a few months later?

I'll keep watching it and see what happens there.

IMO
Holding may be making improvements to the land so the city cannot condemn the land and take it for pennies on the dollar while at the same time... as we all know improvements drive up the sale price!

So not only can the city not just take it but they will have to pay a premium to get it!

Holding's did not become a billionaire because he is stupid!
