Heather Mitts worked on the last WWC, and she did pretty well for being so new to TV.

She can definitely string more than one sentence together, Deuce. Don't make me call you an EMB! *suppressing feminazi rage* πŸ˜‰

I'll miss Lorrie Fair, though.

Don't know if I even want to know what an EMB is but just the same, I was actually poking fun at the big network affinity for the pretty face and not much happening behind the eyes kind of commentators.

I am sure that if she does commentating as well as she plays soccer she will be great!

I suppose so but I see my interpretation of a pretty face is somewhat different than yours. πŸ˜‰

Everything about American soccer is getting better.

Anyone lament that we no longer get Veronica Paysee wandering around the sideline?

Heather Mitts, Brandi Chastain . . . all significant upgrades.

I liked Lorrie Fair--too bad she's outtathere.

Oh my gosh, that was a nightmare! It was like having someone auditioning for the local beauty pageant interviewing the players at half-time and full-time. During the interviews, even the players seemed a little embarrassed!

Back to the thread about American announcers/commentators on soccer . . . the bar is low.

This information is about 5 years old now; but in person, Wynalda is a very nice guy. He even signed autographs for me when I was wearing a Galaxy shirt. He also seemed to be pretty smart, too.

I don't doubt it, except the smart part. I mean, he went to San Diego State, after all. πŸ˜‰

I'll say this for Wynalda--he took his job as the "Ambassador of American Soccer" seriously and did all he could to promote the sport. It's hard to believe in 2005, but ten years ago Wynalda was the only player we had with anything resembling world class stature. It was all on him, and he did his part, including making sure a goal was scored in the first ever MLS game.

So I believe you when you say he treated you well. I just got tired of the on-field-whinging.
