I just had a scary thought this morning. KSL isn't expecting to cut away from game action to show commercials are they (ala. NASL, NBC Olympic Coverage!, etc.)? Please, NO!

I wasn't sure who would be the local broadcaster for ReAL. KLS TV's announcement stated that after 'much negotiation' they would carry 5 games. Whoever is the broadcaster, we should be grateful.

To help our cause please take the time to do the following:

1) Call or email KSL and thank them for carrying this important sports programming for all of the soccer fans that live in Utah. Tell them how smart it was for them to get this important account.
2) Tell KSL that you will patronize the advertisers of ReAL game broadcasts when ever possible.
3) When you do business with any of the advertisers for the ReAL broadcast games, be sure to tell them thanks for sponsoring the broadcasts and let them know that the business revenues that they get from you is a direct result of their broadcast sponsorship of ReAL Salt Lake soccer.
4) Encourage other soccer fans to do steps 1-3 above.
5) Encourage everyone you can to buy tickets and ReAL gear and go to the games.

Remember, the success of MLS Soccer and ReAL Salt Lake is based on its business success. If it makes money, or even appears to make money, or is on track to make money soon then it will be a success and continue. If if is not a business success it will go bye-bye and we will all be disappointed.

Great point WB, we should be grateful that a broadcast station is willing to show games at all.

So, any thoughts on having Bill Riley and Dave Dir as our broadcast team?

Does Dave Dir still rock the demi-mullet?

If so, I'm all about having him as an announcer... :D

I thought Bill Riley left KSL for Hot Ticket 700. He did on the radio side anyway. Kinda weird...

Bill has been pretty supportive of the team and has had quite a few soccer guests on his show in the past several months. I hope it works out well for everyone, but I still hold to the theory that a good color analyst (hopefully Dave Dir will be) does more for a broadcast than the play-by-play guy.

You make a good point kunie. Dir is descent. He knows the game, and specifically MLS very well. He usually makes good comments. He'll be able to educate Riley and the viewers on the game quite effectively.

👍

I wouldn't be surprised to learn that the five games mentioned are being used a a test market. They think it's going to be big, but they're not sure, so they're testing the water, so to speak. If it goes over very well, then they may go ahead and do the rest. If not, they will fulfill their obligation and get out. So let's let them know we want more!
