I don't care who coaches LA, so long as we beat them. Both are limited. Sigi for the reasons I've already mentioned and Sampson because he's weak where Sigi is strong--putting a team together with the right chemistry. LA lost to SJ in the 2003 playoffs because Sigi failed to make adjustments when San Jose turned it on. He stuck with the same passive defensive mode, and thereby contributed significantly to the worst playoff meltdown in MLS history. Most Galaxy fans wanted him fired on the spot--a bit harsh, but it was the club's worst moment. See, adjustments in the game are his JOB. He didn't do it then, and he rarely did it in the years I watched his Galaxy teams. The man is a good coach who should have an MLS job, but not the National Team. That job takes much more than either Sampson or Schmid bring to the table.

Um, Rovers, I think your hatred of Sigi the Hutt has blinded you to the fact that you are comparing him to Sampson. Sampson took a great 1st place LA team last year and tanked them. LA was lucky to beat the CRapids and the Wizs killed them. Sampson sucks. Donovan might be able to save him, might.

With the team/talent he had in LA, winning one MLS Cup was not enough for the Galaxy FO or fans. Hiring Sampson was not a good move--we were all shocked by that one--but Sigi had worn out his welcome. I've got no personal animosity for Sigi. I think he's not the right guy for a our National Team, but I've made it clear he's a good coach he should have an MLS job. He's also good guy who's well respected in the community.
