Yes, and they had a few callers with mixed feelings.

One dude, kinda funny, said that he asked his kids what they wanted to do: Jazz games, Stingers, soccer games, etc. Turns out, the kids wanted Chucky Cheese. So he said that they care more about Chucky Cheese than RSL.

There have been a few supportive callers though. "Give it a try. It's like Light Rail. Soon you won't be able to get on the d@mn thing..."

So far...

Real Salt Lake's opener is Saturday in New York. How excited are you about the team.

I can't wait 14 (50.00%)
I'm tivoing RSL while I watch the Final 4 1 (3.57%)
I am willing to hold for an hour in order to win free tickets from 1280 The Zone 0 (0.00%)
I caught some trout at Strawberry and wrapped them in the Tribune's wrap 5 (17.86%)
Like, PK you are rooting for anything that improves Utah's sports image 8 (28.57%)

(Explanation for the last one, PK (Patrick Kinnehan(sp?)) wants Major League Baseball in Utah...) Obviously not the most scientific of polls, but at least they're talking about it, which to me indicates a decent level of excitement.

Also, they mentioned that the Trib has a 6 or 8 page section dedicated to RSL today. Anyone seen it?

I bought it just for that section. It was done very well and if you havn't seen it I'd suggest finding it. A great preview of RSL SC and MLS! 🙂

KIRKLAND’S CORNER MOVES EAST FOR HISTORIC OPENER: KSL 5 sports anchor Tom Kirkland, the host of SportsBeat Sunday, a one-hour show hosted by the former CNN anchor, will join Riley and Dir at Giants Stadium on Saturday to bring the historic Real Salt Lake inaugural game back to Utah. Kirkland will bring up-to-the-second news and information from the RSL sideline during the contest
