Open-ended flights

So I'm going to Italy in September, but I'm not sure how long I will be there: it could be anywhere from 6 to 10 months.

Does anyone know how I can find a ticket with an open return date or something like that so I don't have to decide right now the exact day I'm coming back? The time I want to come back is more than a year away, I can't say for sure right now.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

An easy answer would be a one-way ticket now and another one when you decide to come back.

Maybe I'm not understanding this (I can be a little slow!) but for some reason all the one-way flights are like $1,800 or more according to the tix sites.. why would anyone ever buy that???? Why not just buy a round-trip ticket for $415 and then just don't get on the plane to come back... and then buy another one to come home?

😕 😕

The best of course would be to find a ticket that is maybe a little more (like $800 or so) that allows me to decide later when I want to return.

I guess I could find a ticket that allows me to "change" it, even if it is for a fee it would probably be cheaper.

This is a pain :D

You could get a round trip ticket for a specific time... say three months.... and then just pay the service charge to alter it at a later date! or go thru a travel agaent!

I didn't say it would be the cheapest solution, just the easiest. :D

I know that tickets like these are available so I would imagine that would be your best bet. Maybe you could try a travel agent. I'm sure that they have lots of ideas.

Son, I only have one bit of advice. Don't -- DO NOT -- come back until you have a little ragazza to accompany you.

haha thanks for the advice. I've tried with the ragazze before and it didn't work out... here goes round 2 I guess!

(for those of you who don't know.. Italian girls are generally very very attractive.)

Ragazze, eh? Does that mean more than once or should we assume it means more than one at the same time?

You need to try le Siciliane...
