Monday March 7 Loyal1 will perform "busted" by Steven Mackey.

This is a west of the Mississippi premiere of the percussion solo by the Princeton University composer. Mackey is in residency at the University of Utah as part of the Maurice Abravanel Visiting Distinguished Composer Series produced by the Canyonlands New Music Ensemble.

The concert begins at 7pm in Dumke Recital Hall in Gardner Hall on Presidents Circle on the U of U campus. Admission is free.

Another work by Steven Mackey: Indigenous Instruments for flute, clarinet, violin, cello, and piano

Also works by Earl Kim, David Froom, and local composers Bruce Quaglia and Sun Mi Ro.

It's all 21st century music.
