RSL slammed--with everyone else

If you've never read Dan Loney, he's a SoCal guy who writes a column for American Soccer News. He's just a little irreverent. Just a little.

Here's what he had to say in his latest column:

"People are seriously infatuated with Real Salt Lake, and to me they just look like the biggest bunch of retreads outside a monster truck rally."

Now, it's news to me that people are seriously infatuated with RSL--except for us, of course. But I think it's great if Loney thinks so, even if he frames it as a negative.

Of course, he then slams everyone else:

"Columbus is still the same passel of frauds they were last year. New England still takes two-thirds of the season off. Kansas City probably still has nightmares about the last MLS Cup. Colorado is going to stink. Los Angeles is going to stink. San Jose is going to stink. Chicago is going to stink. The Metrostars are going to stink. Dallas is going to stink. And DC United still doesn't have a goalkeeper.

That settles it. A twelve-way tie for last."

Notice he doesn't even bother with seedy cheetos.

The highlight of having an MLS team in Utah is reading Dude Love's opinions about us. And having him visit in person, if he makes the road trip.

Yeah, I like to run Jeonju & Columbus smack as much as the next guy.

But before we hand 6th place to Goats Lite; remember that they aren't losing anyone to the Gold Cup or World Cup qualifiers.

If Arena calls up Francisco Gomez or Arturo Torres, I'm going to start supporting the Cayman Islands. If Lavolpe calls up anyone from Chivas USA, the best he can hope for is to be buried in an unmarked grave so that his final resting place isn't vandalized.
