Copa del Rey 2003

In this photo, the banner reads: “1889 Huelva, crib (or cradle) of football” referring to the fact that Spanish football first started in Huelva. You can see that the image shows a soccer ball in a crib.

By the way, since we are Real, don’t we need royalty to be the honorary president of our team? Maybe Checketts can arrange something with King Juan Carlos…

Not necessary, since this is the USA and we do it OUR way. But it WOULD be cool! Maybe if we win...

Recreativo is presently in 5th place in the second division, 4 points away from the 3rd place side (Eibar).

http://rfef.sportec.es/

The first three clubs will be promoted to La Liga next division so right now Recreativo is in a fight for their lives to be promoted. They played the 2nd place side (Cadiz) yesterday and drew them 1-1. Recre could have used a win to jump into 4th place and come within two points of qualifying for promotion to La Liga (something they’ve only done in two other occasions).

The latest press release on Recre’s site states that Recre will use those players who don’t usually get playing time in the friendly tomorrow.

So did we win promotion or something?

We seem to be in the "Super Soccer" league.

Thanks for the news, Arelius.

Thanks for the info. Whomever they put on the field, I give credit to the FO for setting this up. Should be a good environment and I like the historical connection.

“Super” referring to “SuperLiga,” as in First Division
