Rocky Mountain Cup Presentation

There's a rumor going around that the RSL FO will only allow the Rocky Mountain Cup presentation after that game saturday to go ahead if Real Salt Lake wins. Is this true? I think the it's just another rumor going around. I'm just not sure. Afterall the last rumor that I didn't buy into, that Nkong was joining the team, did pan out in the end.

Thanks!

I really like this Cup; I only wish it didn't rest on a block of wood.

I admire that you seek confirmation of a rumor on an internet forum.

I can add some to the rumor or dispel some it.

The crapids currently hold the Cup. If, by some deal with the devil, they win on Saturday they do not need to be awarded that which they already possess.

To require that RSL allow a crapidfest on the field of RSL again is nuts. Winning the Cup does not include the title to the stadium. It is still a league match hosted and run by RSL. If it were a league run event, ie playoff, MLS Cup, all star game, then the "away" team could have more liberty to celebrate. You know, like Mutumbo did in Seattle or Jordan did in SLC.

When RSL wins, the Cup will need to be presented to the C10 side of RSL. I forsee the changing of hands or presentation to have some variation each year. What great tradition did not have some variation in the early years?

I'm not sure if you were pointing out the humor in seeking to clear up a rumor via the internet. If so, I agree it's kinda funny. Thanks for the scoop. That makes more sense. My thoughts weren't so much that I would "know" more but that I could at least see what others had to say about it. It's one thing to hear something from some guy who's all worked up over it, it's another when you hear things form a bunch of folks.

That's the part I don't get and it goes a few ways. I don't understand exactly what some folks are complaining about and exactly what others, maybe in the RSL FO or KSE FO, are not wanting to do. I would think that whoemever won, you'd just have the announcer say it and then give the trophy to the team. The guys I was chatting with claimed that RSL wouldn't even do that. From what I read from your response, it sounds like the Rapids expected something more elaborate than the stadium annoucer saying "Rapids won the RMC and their fans in the corner are handing it off to the squad".

Maybe some of my thoughts are on it is that I see it gaining value as time goes on so why all the fuss over exactly how it's handed out or not handed out. That will come with time.
