On the bright side, Roma with a nice road win in Champions League today.

Goal by Perrotta.

It was like watching RSL. Better soccer, terrible results. It especially stings because it was Lazio.

Vatican to field a team?

Yeah, you heard that right. BBC story suggesting the Vatican is considering fielding a team to compete in Italian domestic leagues.

That's great. I once saw some mockups of Vatican City jerseys that made me smile.

Like the article said, sundays may be a problem (unless they just get to Serie B and stay there), but when it comes to money they would probably blow away Abramovich!

They'd have to play in the piazza, I guess - no room for even a pitch anywhere in the Vatican - plus, what kind of Ultras would Vatican FC have?

And where would it leave the church when they get relegated for fixing matches??

Forza Roma Sempre!! Vai a quel paese FC Vaticano!

Totti went a little balistic this last match. It seemed pretty out of character for him. Do you think Roma can still take over Inter? They seem to be on a tear.

I don't think there is any stopping Inter at this point. I had high hopes for this year, but now we gotta make sure we sew up that CL spot.

I asked Tommy Smyth if there was any chance for Roma in his chat last week and he said no as well.

I love my Serie A and my Italian calcio in general, but these riots have gone too far and I totally agree with the FIGC to shut down calcio until they get things changed.

For anyone who didn't hear, a cop got killed by rioting fans after the Catania-Palermo match today. Italian Fed has shut down Calcio indefinitely. Catania's team president stepped down and declares he is leaving the football world.

I've championed the Serie A for years. I stand ashamed of my fellow tifosi.
