Garber live chat [R]

Here is Garber's chat

I sent 3 questions but they didn't get answered; phooey.

Some interesting tid-bits:

Let me start by saying that I believe we will get a deal done. Unfortunately, however, no team in MLS can succeed long-term without a beneficial stadium situation. But we are a long way away from that point in Salt Lake City.

Also I found this interesting:

Yes! We're currently looking at a plan to do just that.

I saw that you had an organized, open chat with Crew fans (maybe season ticket holders) after the Everton game. Is there any plan to have these types of chats in the future with fans of all teams?
Commissioner Garber
Yes, this year we visited all the teams' locker rooms and met with all team staffs. Next season, to the extent local fans are interested, the plans are to meet with as many team supporters' groups as possible. Both Ivan Gazidis and I make ourselves available for a few hours at MLS Cup each year to meet with the supporters' groups that attend. I always look forward to that time and candidly I'm surprised that more people don't attend.

Thanks, folks. Sorry to have to run. I'm running 45 minutes late for the MLS General Managers meeting.

No doubt Uncle Dave is in attendance...

It's popular world-wide because it makes money for the teams. I'm not a fan of this kind of marketing because taken to the extreme we have NASCAR: Patches and company names written on every surface of the kit and even the human body with post game interview filled with so many sponsors that no one could possibly get a feel for what happened in the game. "I was running down the Turf Care pitch when I looked up through my Oakleys and noticed the #9 UPS play maker open on the Applebee's left flank so I used my Nike 90s to make a Blue Jet pass and he put it in the back of the Long John Silvers net."

Totally agree. however I wouldn't be opposed to one sponsor per uniform as done in most of the world.

I WOULD want it to be designed into the jersey, though, I hate the ones that the teams sometimes have already. Like when LA is wearing their yellow jerseys and then there is this big green block on the back with Sierra Mist on it. It would look so much better if it were just the Sierra Mist logo, not the big green block.

Okay so it's a red budweiser block. But wouldn't it look so much better if Budweiser didn't have the red block around it?
