Attiba has an insane number of fouls for the number of mintues he's played. IIRC he's got nearly as many fouls as Talley despite playing 1/2 as many minutes. And for awhile when AH was starting, he was up there as one of the league leaders in fouls committed despite the other guys having played 2 - 4 more games and having a lot more minutes. The kids' got some wheels but more often than not he's got brick feet around the ball. And too often he committs stupid fouls. The reason for preasuring the defense as a striker is to, well, keep pressure on them and try to force them to make a bad pass. When you commit a foul you undercut all the work you've done in pressuring them.

Interesting facts regarding fouls committed, and which teams are "dirty play" teams:

Listing of the current FC leaders with the number of minutes it takes them to commit a foul:

Valakari = 29.85
Palencia = 37.61
Robinson = 33.40
O'Rourke = 37.87
Clark = 43.93
Ihemelu = 42.00
Guevara = 31.32
Kljestan = 48.38
Mullan = 50.21

Here's Attiba's stat:

Harris = 22.27

This is MLS's "Fair Play" table. Looks like RSL is almost the dirtiest playing team in the league (as far as cards are concerned). Thank you LA!

1 D.C. United
2 Chicago Fire
3 Kansas City Wizards
4 FC Dallas
5 New York Red Bulls
6 Colorado Rapids
7 Chivas USA
8 New England Revolution
9 Houston Dynamo
10 Columbus Crew
11 Real Salt Lake
12 Los Angeles Galaxy

And finally, here's a listing of the the team in order of how many fouls they've committed this year per game. You'll notice that RSL is at a respectable level here, though:

Kansas c.= 12.50
New Engl.= 12.59
Colorado = 13.05
D.C. = 13.33
Salt Lake= 14.00
Chivas = 14.23
Chicago = 14.45
Columbus = 15.32
Dallas = 15.38
Houston = 15.82
New York = 16.90
Galaxy = 16.91

I think Ellinger needs to go back to starting Attiba to rough up the defense, then sub in Watson or someone who can control the ball AND not knock over everyone around him.

Are you kidding me? Jamie gets almost as many cards as Atiba does. I understand subbing him out but for Jamie? I think not.

Look at stats from the Madrid game and guess who had the most fouls... Madrid by a long shot. Riley's comment with Fraser's agreement, the fould disrupt the play and allow the D to get back.
