Isn't it funny?

Isn't it funny?
Here are a few things that I have found pretty funny in the past week or so here at the World Cup:

Isn't it funny that Torsten Frings will be forced to sit out a World Cup semifinal for sticking his hands where they shouldn't be? I suppose four years late is still better late than never.

Isn't it funny that people in Ghana cried that they were robbed by bad officiating against Brazil, just days after Markus Merk's phantom penalty call helped give Ghana a win against the United States?

Isn't it funny that Clint Dempsey scored one goal in the World Cup and now some MLS fans are talking like he played well enough to be on the World Cup All-Star team? He played well and should make a move to Europe, but this World Cup he was decent against Italy and struck a nice goal courtesy of a great pass form DaMarcus Beasley.

Isn't it funny how Landon Donovan scores two goals in his first game back in MLS after the World Cup? If the World Cup really does come to the United States in 2010 Landon might be a favorite for the Golden Boot.

Isn't it funny how DaMarcus Beasley gets trashed for a "horrendous" World Cup when the one terrible match he had was when he was marked out of the game by AC Milan starter Marek Jankulowski? Apparently Clint Dempsey would have torched Jankulowski.

Isn't it funny to hear Alexi Lalas try and pin blame on European players for the U.S. team's struggles in the World Cup? Yes, the same Lalas who works for MLS (among about 12 other employers) and who happens to run the team Landon Donovan plays for. Can you say impartiality?

Isn't it funny to hear Freddy Adu straddling the fence about what national team he wants to play for when he wouldn't have five percent of his current endorsements if not for his U.S. national team ties?

Isn't it funny how Bruce Arena saying "the nation's best players need to go to Europe at a younger to get better" gets turned into him saying, "We lost in the World Cup because MLS sucks"?

Isn't it funny to listen to Red Bull fans bash Youri Djorkaeff for going to a soccer game when fewer and fewer of them go to Red Bull games each week?

That's all I've got for now. Feel free to add some to the thread.

I'm not sure I'd call Jankulowski a starter. IIRC he only started in 1/2 dozen games for the Rosseneri.

I disagree with his Beasley and Arena statements, but that's just me being argumentative.
