Like pretty much all other gambles for the US in this WC.

Landon was there? News to me.

I am confused as to why people are bagging on Beasley!

He didn't show in the first match... so what... he was not the only no load that match!

Game 2 he came on late and scored a goal within minutes... it was disallowed... not his fault... McBride did not need to block the keeper.

Game 3 he made several dangerous runs and had the assist on the only goal today... that was after he made a very timely steal which lead to the breakaway and a spectacular goal.
what did anyone else do? seriously! what?

The face of USA Soccer and MLS was the disappointment of the year.

Donovan was a no show... had terrible ball control and that freee kick was atrocious...

and Johnson was a waste of space... Clint Mathis would have been a better choice for the squad than Eddie Johnson

Deuce, I think Beazers run of negative opinion started in his horrible play during the warmup friendlies and then the cup overflowth when he stunk it up against the Czechs.
I agree he made up some for it as a sub in Italy and today, but that doesn't erase the other poor performances.

that is fine but the question is "who was most disappointing in this world cup 2006?"

It was not "who stunk it up in qualifying?"

Donovan and Johnson stunk it up in WC06... Gooch, Beasley, Dempsey and Convey were the best on the squad in the world cup.

His lack of urgency was my main issue with him. He wasn't nearly as fast as he used to be.

Beasley played pretty tentatively in my opinion -- I suspect that part of that may have been the fact that he was playing out of position a lot, but he didn't look like the same DMB to me.

Personally, I was screaming a lot at Beasley's back-passing all game until his sneak attack that got Dempsey the goal.

Maybe I just expected too much from Beasley. My feelings weren't limited to his performance today.

I too have seen beasley play better and worse than he did in the last 3 matches but like i said before IMO the worst waste of space and the biggest disappointments were Johnson and Donovan...

I think Clint Mathis and Melvin Tarley would have played better than those two did in all of the three matches...

McBride won a lot of hearts with his bloody tough guy thing, but sure didn't score. I expected Mastroeni to be disqualified somewhere along the way, so I guess I agree with you there. If he's our best DM the country is in trouble.

I was a little disappoint with BA. I don't know why he didn't play more offensively from the begining. Not bringing Twellman should have been a sign that he was hoping for 2 nil-nil draws and a lucky bounce win. Unfortunately all the lucky bounces where the other way.

How long to the next world cup? Do we have to wait 4 years. I hope we get a better draw and play a better game.
