It was a shame that Eddie Pope was likely ejected from his last ever World Cup match.

I have a sneaking suspicion he will announce his retirement from both National Team and MLS in the coming months.

It seems as good as decided from the sources quoted over on BigSoccer. But you know how rumors go...

Why the **** would he retire from MLS? He's got plenty left in him...

I didn't know it was being talked about on BS it was just a feeling I had about it all.
-------

That PK in my eyes ranks up there with the non-call hand ball against Germany in 2002.

The best news I can cling to is that unlike 2002... England and the USA did not go out on the same day.

England are still in it but it does not take away from the pain of USA losing and going home.

Worse than losing and going home is the way the US lost. They lost lying down.

I agree. I think he was using MLS to keep himself in shape for the World Cup. I wouldn't be surprised to see him retire before the season is over.

I think this should read something more like this... a three way tie.

Ghana 1-1 USA (Officials 1) giving Ghana 3 points in the standings.

I can take a loss, if I feel like the team actually lost the game. Did USA win, absolutly not, but they also did not lose the game... it was stolen by the officials.

Yes, I am frustrated. :censored: :pissed:

Sad but true. Czech Republic 3 - 0 USA, Chivas USA 3 - 0 RSL. Ghana 2 - 1 USA, Dynamo 2 - 1 RSL (on a horrible referee failure, both games).

i would agree with that if the US was going to do something in the second half...

they didn't.

They needed to win, all they would have had is a tie. They played for...I don't know, but they weren't playing for a win.

Take the PK call away and the US are still coming home this weekend. The US lost this game all by themselves. They needed to put some balls in the back of the net and were just unable to do so.

Sure, the ref made a horrible call, but that isn't the reason the US isn't going into the next round. You can blame Arena as much as anyone for leaving a sub on the bench and playing for the tie vs Italy. We almost scored in that one as it was, who knows what might have happened with a pair of fresh legs out there for the last 10 minutes. We get a goal in that game and we don't have as much pressure on us in this game.

There are plenty of reasons that the US is coming home besides poor officiating.
