The US gets it in 2014 but only because Brazil won't be in the running. Have you noticed how FIFA seems to be bending over backward to NOT promote the World Cup in 2010 in South Africa? I know it's complete speculation but I'm starting to wonder at what point FIFA announces that South Africa has backed out and that since South America hasn't held one in a long time, Brazil's been awarded it. Complete specualtion but the rumors about it have been fun to read.

I think when it comes down to it, the US can how the World Cup anytime they want. They just have so many new football stadiums that work nearly as well as a true SSS. Has anyone been to games at Seattle or Philly? I wouldn't be suprised if being built with soccer in mind simply means insuring they have sightllines that avoid what happened at Spartan Stadium where things really dropped off cuz the soccer field was that much wider than the football field.

It all comes down to IS Brazil ready for 2014? probably not, and as it has been pointed out, the US is one of the few nations that has a ready made stadium situation that can quickly host on a moments notice.

Although I must say, considering my childrens' ages in 2014, a trip to Australia for the WC would be very, very cool.

How would a WC in Australia affect the Eurpoean seasons? Would they still play the WC in June/July - the middle of the Aussie winter? Although it is a mild winter would they want to do it then or would the push the WC earlier or later in the year?

I don't think that they would change the dates. With current daytime temperatures ranging from the 50s to 80s, I think it would be fine:

According to Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FIFA_World_Cup_hosts), England or a combined United Kingdom tournament is the forerunner for the 2018 world cup.

i dont think the USA will get the World Cup in 2014 or 2018 under nirmal conditions, more and more teams/countries try to be the one who get it, but maybe the WC is comming to you in 2010, i think i heard some speculations about that, because of the bad infrastructure. would be nice, i would be there then, i even also think of travelling to south africa.
me personally, i had i nice time during the WC now, met lots of people and experienced wich ****ing fun it is to have BBQ in the bedroom.

ok, have nice holidays, i am off to Paris with b-friend. :signback:
watching arrival of the tour de france
