Second half and still no score. Will France underperform again like 2002? __________________

REmember that the Switzerland went undeafeated in WC Qualifying. They tied FRance twice, but never lost a match in the qualifying stages. Did France underperform or are they over rated? __________________

You mean they never lost a match in the group stage. And remember, undefeated doesn't mean they won all their games. They amassed 18 pts. from a possible 30 pts. In fact, the Swiss were left sweating right to the end before edging out Israel for second place in European Group 4. The away-goal rule was the decisive factor in their success as they edged through by a wafer-thin margin in a play-off against Turkey. Despite falling 4-2 in their second leg in Istanbul, they advanced by virtue of their 2-0 victory in Bern four days earlier. Moreover, the 2006 tournament is their first FIFA World Cup appearance since 1994. Quote:
A team composed of the likes of Gallas, Silvestre, Thuram, Sagnol, Vieira, Makelele, Zidane, Diarra, Ribery, Wiltord, Saha, Trezeguet and Henry is hardly overrated. Sounds more like a dream team to me... They have been in a funk ever since the 2002 World Cup. They have enough talent to make it to the third place game. Whether they do it remains to be seen. __________________ "I think people fancy me. They can't figure me out. I'm an attractive guy. I make good money and I score goals. Exactly what I mean. Thank you for making that more clear. Quote:
Did I say they won all of their games? It seems to me that I pointed out the most pertinant fact to this match (France and Switzerland tied twice in qualifying). Doesn't pointing out a tie imply that they didn't win? Quote:
How does Switzerland failing to qualify in 1998 and 2002 affect how highly people regard France? Quote:
Seems to me that when you are in 4 year funk it indicates that you are over rated. Of course that is just one way of looking at it. A funk doesn't last years in my mind. Regardless of who plays for your team, if you consistently lose when it counts you are overrated in my book. But then again, I have a feeling on this one we are going to have to agree to disagree. __________________
