IMHO I think we should just ignore people like that... It seems since we slammed the other authors that gave negative opinions we have given them a reason to hit back with tripe like that... let him have his closed minded opinion about a team that didn't seem to have a lack of support but a lack of proper management!!!

He is saying that we have the same argument as 1976... 1976!?! FFS...
Well he has the same argument as everyone else... and a lack of real understanding of how far soccer has come in the US since 19 f'kin 76....

I'm no English major, but isn't a thesis supposed to have supporting points?

Yes, the similarities between the '76 team and today are almost too many to count:

1) they'll both play at least one game on the U. of U. campus
2) they're both soccer teams
3) ummmm.....

Great job, Lee.

But hey, the 1976 Golden Spikers obviously are more relevant than the 2000-2004 Blitzz. :p 😠

Some facts missing

Not all the Golden Spiker's Europeans disapeared. How about Edgar their goalie? Named "Blitzz fan of the year" said hello at the SLC stadium hearing.
The striker from Scotland? He is really the Father of Soccer in Utah. Billy McNicol who married a local gal-Stacy and took in a kid from Brigham City - Chris Agnello of the Utah Blitzz.
The lawyer brother is Judge Benson who needs to get involed again in soccer.
Any other Spikers around?

Hey everyone, I'm going to write a letter to both the Deseret News and the Tribune and try to give some actual facts about soccer in Utah. I need help though.

I need to know all of the different stadiums the Blitzz played at. Didn't they even play some games in Wendover? Provo also? And was it Olympus High School they played at?

What years did they win the championships? I know 2004 but what was the other year?

And weren't they at one time going to advance up to the A-League but couldn't because they didn't have a real stadium to play in?

Any info would help.

Where didn't the Blitzz play? War the Blitzz Rave!

-In 2000, they played at Rice Eccles; then they moved down to BYU's soccer field for the playoffs. ("Please don't make us spend extra time in Provo!").

-In 2001, they started the season at BYU, played one game at Franklin Covey; then ended up at Skyline High. They won the USL D3 Championship at Franklin Covey.

-2002 was Cottonwood High all year, right?

-2003 was Rice Eccles? I think there was one game in Wendover, or was that in 2002?

-2004 was Rice Eccles, with a stop off in Park City or Wendover or some place like that?

Great job, Lee.

Couldn't agree more.

My policy is not to respond to soccer haters, but this guy just seems confused and ignorant. So I e-mailed him and tried to bring him up to date--you know, American Soccer in 2005. Doubt it will do much good, but I felt like he needed some help with his background research. No way would I want my byline on an article like that. Embarassing.
