Some great goals this week, but I have a bone to pick with the "own goal" scoring. I know that this could frustrate some "purists", but I don't know why some goals are scored in such a way that no offensive player receives credit. Obviously I would have loved to see Cunny get some sort of credit for his pass turned own goal. On the other hand, Henderson has a shot that I was nice, but in essence stopped, then the keeper kicked it in.
Maybe someone could explain to me that statistical ruling that allows Henderson's goal to count for him. But I'd also appreciate some discussion about the own goal concept. I know that basketball and hockey both have means to credit offensive players for "own goals". Is soccer the only major sport that doesn't? __________________
