Checketts in the NBA?

I found this interesting.
Quote:
A wild card name to buy the Portland Trail Blazers is David Checketts, according to BenMaller.com's very informative Blazer mole. Checketts would probably want to move the Blazers to St. Louis. In September of last year, Checketts signed an agreement to purchase the St. Louis Blues.

I'm assuming that technically it's Sports Capital Partners that's looking to buy the Blazers? IIRC they're the company he fronts and along with another investment group bought the St. Louis Blues.

And to assume the Blazers would get moved makes sense. These sports conglomerates like to reduce their expenses all they can. So that means having teams they own share arenas (e.g. Kroenke Sports Enterprises has the Mammoth, Crush, Avalanche and Nuggests all in the Pepsi Center) and other back office functionality to keep costs lower.

I don't want to make a grand statement like "this is the future of sports". It's not. But I do expect to see more teams owned by companies like this as opposed to individual owners.
