And the manager of SportsWest Dan Checketts, the guy who is/was the President of RSL.

This story, if true, has the potential to get some real traction.

Sports West was merged into CSTV if memory serves.

Yeah, I think that's really what's going on there. KSL/Bonneville Comm. begat VideoWest, which begat the Blue&White Network (BYU sports TV). The B&WN begat SportsWest (which bought up all the TV rights to the old WAC). And CSTV, which Unca Dave invested in, bought SportsWest and then sold out to CBS, along the way buying the TV rights to the MWC and Conference USA. CSTV, btw, is the "TV production facility" they're talking about in conjunction with the stadium. It's amazing to me how much all this turns on broadcasting rights--it's not so much the actual event as it is the dissemination of that event.

However, giving the Trib any more "the ship is sinking" rope isn't doing anyone any good. A quick infusion of cash to some contract techs would do wonders. I'm more than a little concerned that the FO seems a little tone-deaf on the PR front more than most of the time. (Again, though, the Trib and others have proved they'll run with the flimsiest of rumors. It DOES sell papers, after all.)
