South Africa 2010 It's never too early too look ahead. Who on this year's roster won't be on on the 2010 roster? Whether it's from retirement or getting replaced by better players.
Forwards: Brian Ching, Eddie Johnson, Brian McBride, Josh Wolff Midfielders: DaMarcus Beasley, Bobby Convey, Clint Dempsey, Landon Donovan, Pablo Mastroeni, John O'Brien, Ben Olsen, Claudio Reyna Defenders: Chris Albright, Carlos Bocanegra, Steve Cherundolo, Jimmy Conrad, Cory Gibbs, Eddie Lewis, Oguchi Onyewu, Eddie Pope, Goalkeepers: Marcus Hahnemann,Tim Howard, Kasey Keller Here are my predictions: I don't think Wolff or McBride will be on the 2010 squad. Could we see Conor Casey and Taylor Twellman in their place? I think Mastroeni, Olsen and Reyna won't make it either. Possibly replaced by Pat Noonan, Eddie Gaven and Freddy Adu? Pope and Lewis are probably on their last go around. Possibly Conrad as well. What about someone like Todd Dunivant, Jonathon Spector and Tim Ward? Howard might be the only keeper to return. Hopefully, Meola isn't in the running at 40+! But there are younger guys like Brad Guzan, Steve Cronin or more experienced ones like Matt Reis. Any thoughts? __________________

I think a lot will depend on whether Master Bruce is still at the helm in 2010, which will probably be decided by how we do this year. IMO, if we can get out of our group, MB will get a good enough offer in Europe that he will not turn down. If MB is not around, Wolff won't be around and neither will Olsen, and Twellman probably would make the team (assuming he can stay healthy past 30).
Retiring players will be McBride, Keller, Hahnemann, Pope, Reyna, Lewis. I don't think Mastroeni and O'Brien can stay healthy enough to play that long. Here are some guys I see stepping up and playing in 2010: Rolfe, Spector, Pearce, Gaven, Adu, Zimmerman, Davis, possibly Kirk, and maybe even Eskandarian. Those are my thoughts.

More and more young pups are poping up in europe that don't get picked up by the radar. Heath Pearce is an example of one of them. I wouldn't be suprised if a few more like that happen.
Also with the way players develop, some fo the young defenders we see now may not be around in a few years. If you don't believe me, give Ryan Suarez a call. Or look at Gbandi. Good enough for a Dallas looking for salary cap room but would he be good enough for most other MLS teams? And at that when he was coming into the league he was going to be a star. Steve Shak was a #1 pick and within a couple years was in the a-league. I think we'll see a couple you defenders emerge that aren't getting much attention right now. __________________

USMNT keeper in 2010 will be, without a doubt, Tim Howard.
Its possible that Hahnemann (will be getting old) and Guzan will give him a run for his money. IMHO.

I hope Howard is playing regularly for a club before then.
