USA vs. T&T Pre/Post game thread [R] May I please remind everyone not to put the result in any thread that doesn't have an [R] in the title? I can't come to the watch party but I'm taping the match to watch later, so please try to keep the result out of the other threads, just talk about it in this one. It would be greatly appreciated by myself and others who will be watching the game on tape. Thanks!
I am really excited for this game! GO USA! They will have to beat the T&T team, CONCACAF (whose leader is from Tobago), and if that wasn't enough... a Mexican ref!!! But I believe in the boys. Forza Stati Uniti! __________________

His Bruceness could have called in Vanney, Oguchi, Spector or some other European-based defender.
But our Eddie got the call instead. fifa's matchtracker says that Marlon picked up a yellow card. I'd like to see Clint come on, just to annoy the Calypso Boys defense. Edit: It would have to be Clint Dempsey. Cletus didn't make the subs' bench. Was Brent Sancho with the Portland Timbers with the Timbers visited the Blitzz? I only saw the 2nd half (I love mid-day games)... thought Eddie did really well, as did a lot of the MLS players who haven't had any recent match experience. I wasn't sure who Rojas was until after he got his yellow, so I didn't get much of a look at him. And where's Cletus?
Both US goals were sweeeeet, though! Only downer was the end... I don't think The Bruce had a lot of options at d-mid, but as much as I like Clint Dempsey, that wasn't the greatest substitution of all time. The Albright sub didn't seem to work all that well, either, but oh well...

Rojas was very impressive! especially in the first half!
If we had problems with D you can put money on the fact that with Pope and Rojas we will be looking pretty bloody amazing this season! in a word! WOW! I was very much impressed with both Rojas and Pope!

Rojas had a really nice clearance on a corner kick with his head. He seems short but strong and fast. He never really got beat on the outside. He wasn't marking Johnson so that makes it easier. He seemed to be playing on the left most of the time and did a good job containing McBride.

I just finished watching the tape. All in all I was very impressed with our play.
I agree that Rojas played very well. I can't wait to see him play (right in front of us). Pope was great. Keller, well, I wish he had come back to MLS(RSL). Other than the final 10 minutes or so, a very solid performance. It was probably a fatigue factor but we totally lost our cohesiveness near the end. We had almost total control over play for the first 80 minutes, and then it seemed all of a sudden we weren't quite sure what to do out there. I was suprised to find that Mathis didn't make to squad, but you can't argue with Arena's game plan. Couldn't make the watch-party, had to reschedule a meeting. Glad there were enough there to impress the folks at Iggy's though. Hey Jim, Is it . . . ![]()

Agree on all points. I wonder if Pope and Rojas exchanged shirts at the end?
