I just hope it's not too generic... although if they put in an IKEA, Urban Outfitters, or Trader Joe's next to the stadium, I might be convinced to rethink my position on the Murray thing. 😉

Mmmmmmmmmm... IKEA! I love IKEA!

Wait! No No No No No No!

Downtown... YES! I will join with Czar in his unpopular stance... he is right!

Only the best for US! Let us be the envy of the league!

Forget what I said about taxpayer-funded stadiums.....if RSL's stadium attracts a Trader Joe's, let's raise our taxes to the same as Sweden/Massachusetts.

How's this for a deal.....we give Trader Joe's some free land for a store and they buy the naming rights to the stadium & they run the concession stands!

How rad would THAT be? Ginger honey lemonade for the hot weather games, and their tea for the cold games... mmmmm...

I want Downtown too and this is what gets me.

The stadium would be across the street from Earl Holdings' two hotels, the Little America and the Grand America. He owns most of Block 22. A stadium across the street from his hotels would make his hotels the first choice for someone comming in from out of town or staying a night after a concert, etc.

Why doesn't he chip in money to make this happen?

Easy for me to say, its not my money.

He is a Billionaire however, and he made that money being a savy businessman, and this would be good for his business. A stadium across from his hotels would certainly be better than a huge almost empty lot.

Trader Joes! Do they have any in Utah? If so, my sister would be willing to make a trek out to it.

(p.s. Never mind, I just went to their website.. the nearest one is in Vegas probably. Dang! Trader Joe's Stadium for the Salt Lake Reals)

Add me to the I-prefer-downtown-but-I'll take-Murray-over-no-stadium-at-all group. Understand that SLC is one of the few cities in the country that's big enough to have an actual donwtown to host a stadium but small enough to make it affordable (I know, it's still expensive, but it doesn't compare to, say, San Diego. Just ask the Chargers).

I can't help but think that all we're seeing in the news and at public forums is the surface stuff playing out for public consunption, and that there's dealmaking going on behond the scenes with Uncle Dave getting it done. Maybe it's wishful thinking, but that's what my gut feeling is.
