Streamer Salute

Streamers are one of the coolest props we have as Soccer Supporters. And they are the coolest when they are thrown in unison. Streamers after goals are nice, but they aren't as coordinated, and don't look as neat. It's best when it looks like this:

The Cup and I discussed this and we decided it would be very cool to have a streamer salute at the end of each game. Win, lose or draw...sort of to show our appreciation for the opportunity to watch Major League Soccer here in Utah. So we began to prepare.

Hiba recently expressed this reservation:

Doing it after the first game would be fine too, just not every single game.

What I'm more interested in personally is creating tradition. Traditions are created through repetition. I think we should do it every game. Like The Cup recently expressed:

I would really like to see our traditions spread to the other parts of the stadium and become a much larger scale thing. If we do streamer salutes only sporadically, the rest of the stiffs who don't read this message board will not know when to bring a streamer for a salute, and when not to.

Now I open this up to the rest of the crowd, what's your opinion?

as long as they aren't thrown out until after the match, I think it's a great idea.

I think that streamers are great and will look awesome after the game.

The only problem I have with them are the idiots that can't wait until the end of the game and decide that they make good grenades to throw at refs and players during the game. I think that eventually these jerks are going to get the privilege revoked for all of us so we better enjoy it while we can.

So, my vote is after every game until they decide we can't do them anymore at all.

Okay, well, let me fill you in on one other thing that I've been preparing for our streamer salute. I made this really big banner. It looks like this:

It's to be held up as we throw our streamers in our salute. Here it is at a game.

I would have pictures of the actual banner, but it is kind of big. I finished it this morning, but the weather made it impossible to take the picture. Maybe tomorrow I'll send pictures of the actual banner.

Looks like I've been out-numbered. That's fine, I just thought I would express my opinion on the matter. I still love the streamers!

if its that big do you think it would be better to just hand it over the wall infront of the front row? or you think 2 people will be able to hold it up ok?

It's not THAT big, it just doesn't fit easily into a place where I can take a picture of it. It's about 4' tall and 12' long. I'll get a picture of it tomorrow morning in my backyard. It's already mounted on poles and ready to be held up anyway.

nice size :D and big props on making it ... not many out there showing their appreciation ... certainly i think you're the only one showing it with a 4x12 foot banner =P
