I'm sorry, but I was looking for the Sandy Int'l Airport so I could fly in to see a match, but lo and behold there is no such thing.
I guess I'll have to fly into SL Int'l and let all those other County residents benefit from my out-of-town dollars. 🙄

I have no problem with Real City being dry. I think that would be a great draw for local residents. I wonder what that would do to its status as a future host location for World Cup qualifiers and the MLS Cup, however.

I liked the Deseret News article. It finally sheds a little positive light and good information on the whole project. Still a bit cautious, but better. Come on, Real!!! Let's fight that media war!!!

I'm still trying to figure out how the Delta Center and Franklin Field help me in Herriman. Oh well.

Oh, Utah. When are you going to legalize being an adult?

Yeah, but you're an exception. RSL gets a lot of people come in from Utah and Davis county, but not many come in from out of state on a regular basis. That's one of the things SLCo is concerned about. Every other county gets to use their portion to promote tourism, except SLCo.
That has the hotel guys upset because they could understand if their new tax went to bringing new business, but RSL fans don't stay at hotels. People who come for a World Cup qualifier will, but how many of those will be here with a 20,000 seater. Not many. Those seats will be occupied by people going home to sleep.
Look, I'm committed to this team, but SLCo is kind of getting raped here.

I think that's pretty unfair. SLCo is going to benefit from this, especially if MLS can really take off here. Just imagine SLC being the 2nd solvent team for MLS. The SSS may have a lot to do with that. Everyone has to admit that there are a lot of unknowns and that this issue is pretty complex.

About the only people I see getting raped initially by this whole deal is Checketts & Co. They are going to have to front $100 million for a project that has a substantial risk attached to it. Their payoff will not be immediate, nor will they speedily recoup that investment. SLCo, however, is going to get better infrastructure (roads, utilities, TRAX, other land improvements) sooner (Dolan says this stuff needs to be done sooner or later) in the 9400 south area, which is a great revenue generator via sales tax already (LarryMillerLand). Right? I mean, honestly, we have a mexican restaurant with scantily clad divers at 9400 south. All we need now is a Soccer Specific Stadium, and Sandy will be complete 😉

If 9400 south becomes a major commercial center, it will benefit SLCo greatly via $$$ brought from Utah county (which county is more well off? Davis or Utah???). SLCo will also still own the land where the stadium is built, so if it does fail, much of the initial investment will still be there. The ones really going out on a limb here are Checketts & Co.
