Some other classics (determined by whether they made me say Holy-S&*t when I saw them)...

- Eckland free kick (bonus points for creativity)
- Wolynick volley (under-rated...it came right at the end of a game)
- DDR's 2004 volley (how hard CAN you hit a ball?)
- DDR's free from 2005 (watch the swerve)

For years it elicited the holy-S*** response in me...

After last year, seeing it just accentuates how fast and far Mathis fell from his pinnacle in 2000-2001.

BTW, that incredible run by Mathis was followed up the next week (or so) by his 5 goal performance, which was shortly followup up by his all-surfaces (left ft, rt ft, head) hat trick. He really used to be amazing. Now he is just "used."

I still haven't voted but I'm enjoying the memories these bring back.

For anyone with Netflix, there is a MLS Goals dvd that you can rent if this inspires you.

That run, I don't think, is all that impressive. Yeah, he runs from half field but he only beats like two guys. If they had all five of Mathis' goals when he scored five for goal(s) of the decade, I might vote for it.

Grooviest celebration: Wolde Harris April 5, 1997

I would have preferred to hear the commentators reactions rather than this cheesy music.

Thanks for the tip, prk--it's in the queue. (#100, so I'll probably get around to seeing it by April.)

You're welcome. Thanks for commenting on how many you have your que. It's good to see that I'm not the only one who doesn't get a lil' crazy in adding more DVDs in my que than I couldn't possibly watch during the next month or two.
