Six months after announcing its operating rights had been sold for an
MLS-record amount, D.C. United is going back on the market.

..."It was a mutual decision," United President Kevin Payne said today.
"There were concerns on both sides that this probably was not ultimately
going to be the right fit for anybody."

...However, Payne said that Global's initial payments have been returned in
full. "The entire deal has essentially been vacated," he said. From a
financial standpoint, "it was basically unwound."

Wow...

very interesting...we should keep an eye on this as it could affect ReAL's stadium plans...emphasis on "could." If the rumors are true, the plan is to have a hotel attached to the stadium...and...guess who was going to be building the hotel?...yep, Global.

It appears that Global wants to be involved in these projects, but not as owners, just as investors in the hotels attached to the stadiums (similar plan in DC).

Having an owner back out cannot make MLS happy.

I haven't looke daorund for a news but my buddy in DC mentioned they had a project in Richmond that looks like it's going to fall through and they lost a bid for a project at FAU.

Isn't this the same group that wants to be part of RSL's stadium?

Yes, it is.
Hopefully this just means they want in on the SSS bizness and were uncomfortable running a franchise.
