I sent an email to the FO to see if there are any special instructions for helping out on Sunday.

I'll post if they tell me anything new.
Great idea guys.

Here is what the FO emailed me:

We would be delighted to welcome the Loyalists/RSL Fans at the road home on Sunday for our homeless feeding, thank you for your desire to help out. There are a few different shifts available, at your earliest convenience please let me know how many people you anticipate showing up for each shift, I will then e-mail you some more specific instructions (point person, attire, etc.). Also, just an FYI, the feeding is taking place at the St. Vincent’s DePaul Center, which is right next to the road home.

Sunday, December 25th (Christmas Day)
7:30 AM: Kitchen Duty
I realize that this is very early and not too appealing, but they do need help so if anyone is interested the assistance would be much appreciated.

9:00: Take Out’s to Senior Citizens Begin
If you are not able to make the feeding in the early afternoon, this is a good opportunity to be involved. It’s similar to a “Meals on Wheels” scenario. You and your family would show up to the shelter on Christmas morning, retrieve the names of a few senior citizens and deliver them a warm meal and a Christmas present (provided by the shelter.) Should you decide to do this, they ask that you spend a bit of time with the elderly folks who you visit. Not a ton of time, just 20-30 minutes visiting and providing some company while they enjoy their food.

11:00: Homeless Feeding Begins
They are estimating feeding anywhere from 1,300-2,000 homeless people. They need help setting up the dinning room and then serving the food. We will be providing RSL shirts for those who are serving. I will have more details on the logistics following my meeting on Thursday.

1:00: Children’s Party
This shift is not for the weak at heart. There will be a party for the homeless children where they will be able to get some presents of their own as well as do some Christmas shopping for their parents. There will be a small store set up and they need help working with the kids to retrieve presents, as well as making sure that nobody is taking more than they are allowed. The feeding will continue through the party, as there will be many people who wander in throughout the day. Donations for toys, clothes or anything else that may be viewed as a Christmas gift are welcome.
