Fox Sports predicted 2005 RSL starting XI I copied this from the FSW draft coverage:
Quote:
Remember we now know that Bosnian Senad and Brian Dunseth are defenders and are going to be signed. Also Sergio Flores, a mid, has signed, although Sergio is expected to playing mainly on the dev squad. Any comments?

From comments I've heard, including comments from Besagno himself, he plans to play on the dev squad next year. I bet Watson spends most of the year down there as well. I would bet that the current thought of Ellinger and the FO is that if they're not going to play consistent minutes, it's better for the young guys to start on the dev team than sit on the bench. I would expect Luke K. to get some time at D-Mid though.
I would say that the backline would look very different come opening day. I expect both the Bosnian sensation and Dunseth to be starting. I also expect that RSL will be bringing in a SI to fill the D-Mid starter role. I'm not sure Whitfield will be playing right mid either. I believe he's played as a defender before.

Knowing that Flores, Besagno, Watson, Luke Kremelmeyer will not be starting (although I think Luke and Flores at least will crack into the first team some time), who else from the bench will play?
Ara, Scott, Bernes, Dipsy, Stewart....? I agree, Whitfield was a defender, but he has played mid before at the Fire.

Dipsy should see time. He did a really good job in CHI as a sub.

Besagno probably won't get into any games this year, I'd bet. Here's the categories I have in my mind:
Expect to be solid: Williams Pierce Mathis Kreis Kamler Dunseth Hope for good play: Whitfield Selolwane Countess Brown Akwari Wild Cards: Brenes Behncke Ara Scott Stewart Nolly Kreamalmayer Don't expect to see at all: Besagno Watson Flores Am I forgetting anyone? Where am I wrong here? Feel free to point it out __________________

Two that haven't been signed but are rumored to be our next Youth International picks (I believe Scott and Brenes are the other ones) Marlon Rojas of Trinidad and Senad Halovic of Bosnia.

So with Brenes, Senad and Rojas that will give us our allotment of 3 Youth Internatinals? Didn't we trade away our other two slots to Chivas for Jeff Stewart and then a draft pick from the Metrostars. With Scott not signing then I guess we are tapped out with the young ones.
It looks like we still need 3 Senior Internationals. Hopefully those are the allocations. How many allocations do we have left? This is fun watching a roster being built from scratch!

Actually, there is no evidence yet that RSL gave a YI (Youth In't) pick to the MetroStars...why would they?
But RSL did give a YI pick to the LA Galaxy for the Jay Nolly pick (and why, I don't know) and Chivas for Stewart. So you are correct, if they sign Rojas, they will use their 3 YI picks on Brenes, Senad and Rojas. No more. However, we still have 3 more SI (Senio Int'l) picks, so there is still hope for some great quality to be brought on the team.

Hopefully we will have better luck than the Crapids finding effective Senior Internationals. Besides Stewart they always came up empty and now I believe Stewart is gone back to the U.K.
