Adu's ambition is to play for a major European club, but international rules forbid him from signing a contract overseas until he turns 18 (in June 2007). However, he said yesterday that he has thought about playing for another MLS team.

Asked about her son's comments, Emelia Adu said: "He couldn't hold back any longer. It's been hard for him. The family doesn't want to rush into anything, so we're waiting until the end of the season and we'll talk to the agents. They're working on it. Freddy told me he can't be in this situation another season."

Besides old coach Ellinger, Adu might be interested in Columbus.
Both Crew and RSL have "we suck" allocations to trade and Crew will soon have U21 coach Sigi Schmidt on board.

The kid has great talents. But, would the kind of inward attitude he's showing right now help out RSL's situation?

Just a thought. I for one would like to see that kid in red next year, I'll admit.

Yes it would be cool to have Freddy here but honestly... what are the odds?
Unless they take Cletus as part of the deal, I don't think we can afford Adu...

Let's see.... we saw him score two against us in one game here in RES.

So... either...

(1) Heck, yeah! Let's sign him, baby!

or

(2) Being signed to RSL would bring down the Unfinishing Bad Luck upon him and ruin his entire career. Am I the only one who thinks Melvin Tarley looks a little bit like Freddy? They both have kind of youthful faces... Tarley also scored two against RSL in a single game if I recall correctly... Now look what we've done to him.... 😉

I'm starting to feel that no amount of talent could turn this team around. We bring in great talent that is awesome for approximately one game and then suddenly gets hit by the blahs and becomes overly average.
