Yet another wacky idea

This one almost seems too wacky to post, but I thought I'd throw it out there anyway.

Flashlights.

We can't have flares or any kind of fireworks, so I thought "what about flashlights?" Here's the problems:

1. There would have to be tons of them for it to look cool
2. It would have to be dark enough to make them seen (day games wouldn't work at all (could they be seen under the big lights during night games or are the stands too lit up?))

Upside:

1. Everyone has a flashlight, so if we could somehow get the word out to bring it, there would be tons of them
2. It would be unique to RSL fans (at least I've never seen it done at a soccer match)
3. If you get lots of them, it really does look very cool (I saw it done at a concert once)

We could all point them at one certain thing or all wave them around or point them all straight up or something, and it would look really cool.

What do you think? Too wacky? Too unrealistic? I just think that if it caught on and everybody in the stadium did it, it would be one of the coolest supporters showings around.

The main problem I see with that though would be the opposing team may say we are trying to shine the lights in their eyes to distract them.

That's a good point. Maybe if we only did it before the game and at half time? If we had a giant flag we could shine flashlights from everyone underneath it and kind of make it light up.. just an idea

Hey, how about this wacky idea though. Well, its not so wacky, I've see fans in Argentina do this.

Umbrellas. Umbrellas with our team colors. I spent an hour the other day on the internet trying to find multicolor umbrellas with blue, red and yellow and didn't find any. But maybe a few dozen solid color umbrellas, all of team colors of course, could look impressive.

This was the closest that I came to a good one but they were sold out.

It could look cool with a bunch of umbrellas spinning together.

Umbrellas (in team colors) with the flashlights to illuminate them from underneath!... and at different times... spinning umbrellas in team colors

The best of both worlds... huh? Huh?

:D

We could have choreographed umbrellas!

singin' in the rain! I'm singin' in the rain!

Here are a few umbrellas at a Club America game.

Ya know, a shade providing umbrella could come in handy on a hot summers day. Hopefully though we won't have too many games in the middle of the afternoon.

The flash light thing might not work due to security reasons. There are plenty of unsavory type fans out there that would use the batteries as projectiles. I beleive they even call the San Francisco Giant fans as the battery chuckers (at least that's what Jim Rome calls them.)
