Help for an invading cRapids fan?

I just bought my plane ticket to come in for the October 12th match and awarding of the Rocky Mountain Cup. I'm not going to be renting a car, just using public transit for the 24 hours or so I'm in town. Can anyone reccomend a hotel that's easily accessible to/from RES by mass transit and not too expensive?

There are a few in the downtown area listed here:

If you'd rather be up by the stadium, the University Guest House (http://www.guesthouse.utah.edu/) might be an option too.

If you give us an idea of the price range/classiness that you'd like, we can narrow it down and make a couple concrete suggestions. Motel 6 or The Grand?

A bit better than the Motel 6, but not The Grand. 😉 A nice Holiday Inn would do, or something along those lines. I didn't know about the University Guest House, I'm looking at it now, that might work.

I think along your lines... a step above Motel 6, but keeping the price down as much as possible. I always have good experiences at the Hampton Inns I go to, but I don't think the location in SLC is the best for public transportation?? If the Guest House doesn't work out, post again and we'll post some other suggestions.

How important is beer before / after the match? I'm thinking you could probably find something downtown that's not too fancy in terms of price but more convient for getting around than up by UofU.

For a cRapids fan I would have recommended the Hotel Roberts in Provo, but alas they tore it down. 🙂 In all seriousness, the Holiday Inn on 1300 South and Main Street is very nice and close to TRAX (light rail). Their rates are reasonable and if I'm not mistaken, they have an airport shuttle.

Come to the Loyalists tail gate party before the game. We start about 2 hours before the game starts. There will be beer there, if you're interested in that, among other things such as hot dogs, burgers, chips, salads.

Beer's not important, but the tailgating sounds fun. Depends if Jules and I get some Settlers of Catan going before the game or not (Not to mention anything I need to do for the Rocky Mountain Cup). Thanks for the tips.
