Do you want Claudio Reyna to return?

After missing the last two World Cup qualifiers and the Gold Cup, captain Claudio Reyna is back with the U.S. men's soccer team. Do we really need him back? Do we really want him back?

I've never been impressed by Reyna. I don't know why either. He's played in England, so he's got good skills. And he was responsible for the GWA against Mexico in '02. But I've never been a fan. It always seems like he slows things down and doesn't press the issue as much. Of course, the way our (RSL's) mid-field has struggled at times to control the tempo, maybe I'm underestimating Claudio.

I have been a big Claudio fan. I want to see him play some more with the nats.

Yet again I agree with Stucki. While you may or may not have an affinity for his style of play, the man can play. Anyone who can increase the level of play of those around him I welcome to play with the Nats.

Claudio Reyna is a world class player and for several years was the only American who was respected by the Eurosnobs. He's got plenty of game and has been a key contributor to the USMNT in the past.

My only question about him, and this is no direct fault of his, is his fragility. The guy is seemingly ALWAYS injured. You can depend on him when he's healthy, but you can't depend on him to BE healthy. Sort of like Tab Ramos.

As for his skills, he brings a style of play to our midfield that otherwise is not there. Donovan brings a different but equally successful style, and has the added benefit of scoring goals. Reyna is less a recessed forward and more a true #10.

A healthy Claudio Reyna is a benefit to the USMNT. But thank goodness we don't depend on him to carry the team any more.

Captain America aka Claudio Reyna is a asset to the team.
As I have mentioned before, with all the Gold Cup injuries the USMNT has had, having someone like Reyna back from injury will help the US immensely in the next go around.

But I also agree with some of you, Reyna better be prepared to NOT wear the captain's band and ride the bench some.

Not a big Reyna fan here, but after last night I have to admit that he improves our midfield play significantly. I liked that formation better than having a d-mid "destroyer" type out there.

Here's to Reyna in 2006!
