Future Defensive line-ups?

With Aug. 17 looming and Pope probably out for USMNT, who will take his spot in the middle?

Akwari?
Cabrera?
Scarlett? (probably more of a midfielder)
Lookingland?
Knowles?
.
.
.
.
Bechnke? (just kidding)

After watching Scarlett play in the reserve game last week and also in practice, he gets my vote. Not only is he fast, quick, and has good ball skill, but he reads the game very well and gives us our first true wingback in the Maldini mold. The guy understands when and how to move into the attack. Once he gets the team chemistry/timing thing down, he will challenge for a starting job.

Haven't seen Cabrera do anything except run the stadium steps (that could not have been fun in the heat), so I have nothing to go on for his potential except what I saw in the Gold Cup. My guess is that he would play more of a central position, so he could be in the mix as a fill in for Pope.

I thought Scarlett was too short to be a central back.
Am I wrong here?

I vote either Akwari or Knowles.

I like both of those, and Scarlett.

He's not huge but not really short either. But I see him on the wing anyway. Someone else would slide into the central spot. If not Pierce, then I'd bring in Knowles.

My guess is that Scarlett could play any position on the field, but would be best on the wings.

Scarlett is a left side player, either back or wing. Cabrera is a central defender.

How/where does Gregorio fit into the scheme? I thought he was similar to Scarlett--a midfielder or defender?

I like the options that Coach E will have in the near future.
