Best & Worst Sports Moments of 2004

Fox Sports releases a Best of article that includes Freddy Adu in the "Became Household Names" Category, the US Womens Soccer team in the "Team of the Year" Category and Mia Hamm in the "Greatest Moments to be a Sports Fan" Category.
Quote:
Freddy Adu — OK, kid, all that's resting on your little shoulders is the future of your sport in the United States of America.

U.S. women's soccer team — Mia Hamm led one last roundup of her posse and crowned her career with another gold medal. Did this team ever lose a big game?

Mia rides into the sunset a champion — With millions of little soccer disciples in her flock, Mrs. Garciaparra's legacy is secure.
WOW! Soccer mentioned 3 times in a national sports article. All in the Best of Categories... Says alot for how far soccer has come into the psyche of American sports... Let's keep it up!

If I had made a Best and Worst list mine would include in the Best of Category; Real Salt Lake, the Expansion Draft, the USMNT moving to the next round of WC Qualifying, The US Women's National Team winning GOLD in Athens, and The Runnin' Utes .

The Worst of Category would be dominated by Basketball to include Ron Artest, Detroit Pistons and thier Fans and The rest of the Indiana Pacers.
I am sure there were other notable Worst of moments but that single incident overshadowed them all!

PS. There was that whole Urban Meyer abandoning the Utes that should go into my Worst of list but I have to reserve my judgement to see how he does in the Fiesta Bowl on Saturday.

If they lose then he goes directly to the worst of list...

If they win... I just won't put him on my list in either category...

I saw The Goal (Abby Wambach's magical header) while I was at the gym the other day and nearly started bawling all over again.

Some of my best:
- The Goal
- The Other Goal (in the semis)
- DC vs the Revs in the MLS Cup semis
- Arsenal winning the Premiership
- Arsenal's 49 game unbeaten run
- Utah getting revenge on UCLA at Pauley Pavilion last January
- Veronique Leclerc's 10.0 on floor against USU last February
- World Champion Ashley Postell joining the Utes
- Carly Patterson's beam routine in the Athens AA final
- RSL

Worst:
- Rachel Tidd getting mono just in time for the annual collapse at NCAAs
- Mia, Julie, and Joy retiring
- The Champions League. Gah.
- Most of the Athens gymnastics competition

One that could really go in either category: Dallas beating the Crapids with only 9 men on the pitch. I mean, it was pure comedy, but at the same time, one had to endure some really, really bad football.

Pretty funny Czar and Deuce, some of your "worse" I would count as a "best".

-Tampa beats Calgary for Stanley's Cup
-Meyer goes to Gators from Utes
Guess it depends on your POV (and your location)
