MLS vs. your international team?

After the AC Milan - Chi Fire game Rover asked me a really good question which was "what if it was Roma - Fire?"

I had mentioned that I always cheer for Italian teams in competitions (other than Lazio) but that I was cheering for Chicago to win. If it were Roma.. boy that would be tough. I think I would cheer for Roma to beat Chicago... but maybe not... geez I don't know! :dontknow:

Roma vs. RSL I could not decide one or the other, I'd just have to sit back and enjoy the match.

Waddya think?

Fortunately for me, I haven't really settled on a European team, although I am starting an attachment for Everton. I would definately root for the home town team.

RSL all the way!!!! Granted, the closest thing I have to a favorite international team would be the Kaizer Chiefs from South Africa.

It's a tough call and I'd rqther not have to pick between my favorite teams. But even though I've been supporting several Euro teams for years (Barca, Udinese, "Gladbach, Everton) I'd want RSL to win. RSL maybe my newest team, but they're my home team. I have to stay loyal to the hometown.*

*Disclaimer. Some of you may know that I've moved, on average, every two years for my entire life. Technically, I either have 21 hometowns or none. But since Salt Lake was my favorite stop along the way, and I finished high school here, I call it my hometown for the record.

No problem there, I think most of SLC came from elsewhere anyway.

It would be a hard choice between my favorite teams, but I would have to go with RSL, I feel more of a fan connection with them.

My dream game would be interesting though. Real v. Real (Madrid that is)!!!

I would cheer for MLS versus anyone. If MLS is winning versus anyone then we are at least comparable to that league. Then we could say stuff like "Let us into Libertadores or Champions League or whatever." And if we are comparable to others then it's only a matter of time before we are bringing home the world cup trophy. I love various Brazilian teams like Flamengo and Gremio and I would love to see any Brazilian team come and play a friendly or even better some sort of un-friendly (like Libertadores), but I would always be rooting for the hometeam.

Yeah it's obvious that MLS teams need the wins more than European clubs, I agree with you all there. Then again, my first love in the soccer world was AS Roma, I committed myself to them before I ever knew MLS existed. So you can see how I would have a hard time with that.

Then again, the teams and players I cheered for in MLS before RSL existed now mean nothing to me, it's all about RSL.

I know exactly what you mean there man... Forest and DC United mean nothing to me now... not even mansfield town... sheesh...
The goat shaggers at Chesterfield and Derby County are merely minor annoyances now....

But Blackburn Rovers still suck wind.... LOL

Viva RSL
