DC United vs Chel$ki (r)

Anyone?

I thought by and large that DC did fairly well... Chelski's pace of play was just too much in the end. Quaranta was surprisingly energetic after coming back from the Gold Cup, and Bobby Boswell must be pinching himself this morning after scoring that goal, though.

Interesting that Waldo and Rob Stone noted that Freddy Adu's mom was kicking it in the Chelski luxury box during the game as well.

Honorable mention: the guy who yelled "Jose Mourinho is a wanker!" so loud I could hear it two rooms away from the TV.

I saw about 15 minutes of the second half when I got home from work last night.
I too thought DC did well. I didn't expect them to hang with Chelsea all match and I was pleasantly satisfied with DCU's effort.

Was it just me or was it weird to see DC United guys like Adu, Moreno, Namoff, Simms, Wilson and Boswell playing against Didier Drogba, Hernan Crespo, Damien Duff, Joe Cole, Frank Lampard, Gallas and John Terry?

Too cool. Can't wait til RSL plays a friendly against a Euro power.

I thought it was way trippy, but in a good way, if you know what I mean. Wilson had kind of a bad game, but most of DC's "unknowns" did reasonably well, I thought.

I thought that it was nearly as funny that Stone pointed out that it wasn't John Terry that called Jose a wanker....uhh, yeah, Rob, I thought it was Terry.

Anyway, DC played well enough. It was obvious that Chelsea wasn't trying to embarass them though by the way they turned up their level of play the second they went down a goal. It is great to see top European clubs playing MLS teams though. I can't wait until RSL has the chance...hint, hint FO.

Hubby and I thoroughly enjoyed the game. Props to DC....I really didn't think they would do as well as they did. The "wanker" comment was classic....did you hear the "umm......we didn't say that" from the announcers?.....good stuff.

Good effort from DCU. Not much you can say about the result especially after Duff's goal. That volley would have won goal of the year in MLS.

DC held their own. It was a well fought battle. As for the "wanker" comment... Jose' is certainly that !!! Hopefully the quest for the premeirship Jose' and the girls will see the :giljotiin and we will see the RED DEVILS back where they belong!!! Glory, Glory MAN UNITED!!!!!!
