Does the MLS All-Star game matter?

[Stucki]

All Star Games are pointless. I used to like the baseball one, but interleague play killed that for me.

The NFL Pro Bowl is the biggest joke.

Im not wholly against the All star GAme. True, it is meaningless in the standings, or for purely sporting concerns. But it is pretty fun to watch a game where nobody is scared to death to screw up.

Exibitions are for fun, and usually are fun, unless you get too wrapped up in how much better it could be if it meant something. I remember one where Jorge Campos played goal in one half, and forward in the other, saving and scoring goals. See, fun. Maybe because Im not a competition junkie (i.e. I dont make every event I participate in a reason to beat others) I can see the appeal in a game just for fun.

Oh, and i do prefer the MLS vs. Others format. the league is too small to have 2 full teams that are really Stars.
