Looks like Eddie will be a spectator for this one:

"The one definite will be that Eddie Pope (mild sprain of left ankle) won't be in the back . . . "

At least they're still calling it a "mild" sprain.

Yeah, I was listening to the US soccer podcast interview of Jimmy Conrad and he said that Eddie's injury happened part way through the first half and they had Jimmy start to warm up and then told him that Eddie looked fine and he wouldn't be needed immediately. It was serious enough however that Eddie obviously came off after the first half and they are being cautious about letting it heal. I think he won't miss much if any time when he rejoins RSL which makes me feel relieved.

Did anyone watch this game? I thought it was tonight, but FoxSoccer.com already has it posted as a final.

Saw it. It was on one of the Spanish language channels--I don't remember which one. Kickoff was at 5:00 p.m. MT.

We had most of the ball and had a number of chances. Donovan subbed in late in the second half for Noonan and generated some attacks but . . . well, I see no [R] on this thread so I'll not talk about the score.

I will say that our defense was as well organized as I've seen from an American team, and definitely a world class effort.

Keller was as solid as you would expect.

The game really didn't matter but the teams sure looked like they were going for the win most of the time. In any case, both are through to the quarterfinals.

I caught the last 20 minutes by a total fluke (accident on 215 made bus late, which made Nessie miss spinning class and blah blah blah), and what I saw looked pretty hard-fought and chippy.

Not much in the way of amazing scoring chances, but such is life. Onward and upward, hopefully without injuring Pope Eddie the 23rd any further.
