That is too funny! Hiba ran for class president in high school and her campaign had the VISA theme. She had big signs with ISSA in place of the VISA and her skit was:

You won't need a MasterCard or VISA, when you vote for Hiba Issa!

White Poster Boards....$5.00
Colored Markers..............$3.00
1 roll of tape………….$2.00
The Look on Hiba Issa’s face when you vote her in as Class Pres......Priceless!!

For Senior Class President, there’s Hiba Issa.

(No llamas were injured in the making of this skit)

Too bad she lost....

A Write-up from Last Night

So we didn't really have a "meeting" as it were. Nobody stood up front and conducted or anything, but we did do a lot of talking about stuff. An informal meeting, like it was described. The formal meeting is still a week away. This is what I learned and discussed.

Committees
I think what we are going to decide at the meeting coming up, is just what committees we are going to establish, and exactly where the responsibilities will be divided. And also we need to make nominations for who would be the committee chairperson (notice the Politically Correctness there;)) for each committee. I think the voting should be done via email or PMs or whatever, to give everyone a chance that wants to.

Committees:

Chant Committee (Organizes everything to do with chants)
Tifo Committee (Organizes everything to do with streamers, flags, etc.)
Membership Committee (In charge of recruiting, processing, and fellowshipping)
Tailgate Committee (Organizes tailgates)
Merchandise Committee (Arranges for any Loyalists merchandise)
Public Relations Committee (Website, newsletter, press releases, etc.)
Travel Committee (Organizes roadtrips)
Booth Committee (Gets Carnival Real Booth together for each home game)
Watch Party Committee (Gets watch parties together)

So we establish committees, and then people can join whichever one they feel they should be a part of, and they help out. The committees exact responsibilities should be discussed at the upcoming meetings. Maybe we don't need this many committees. Maybe the membership committee can be in charge of the booth. But then again, maybe not, the booth seems like it would be a big responsibility. Maybe there are other things that Jules overlooked (these are her committee ideas after all, I'd like to take credit, but I would have missed at least three or four of these committees). Maybe we need another committee, or maybe a new need arises later.

And the President, VP, and Treasurer continue on, Pres and VP as supervisors of us all, Treasurer as the final say on money matters.

One thing of interest I learned last night: The Tifo committee will soon have a BIG responsibility to take care of. The final design stages are underway for our GIANT FLAG!

Another thing that I finalized with Dave last night: Come ready to chant like nuts on the 23rd, because I will be bringing my video camera in to record us. These recordings will join the recordings I've already provided to the website. We will have recordings of ALL our chants. And as we add new chants to our repertoire, I'll record them as well.

I'm sure there's other things too, but I can't remember any more. This is my report. I hope you liked it.

Well done Snarf. I wouldn't have minded standing up at the beginning and conducting something more formal, but my kids were acting up and my wife's mood was starting to sour because of it. If that would have happened, I may not have been there to finish watching the demise of our beloved RSL. Therefore, I had to "take care of business". But I think we were able to discuss, informally, what was important.

I agree that the 19th and 20th meetings should be used to solidify the committees and roles. I likely won't be in attendance, but I believe Snarf and others have a good handle on all the ideas that have been presented so far (including mine). Once the committees and responsibilities are made solid, we can email all the Loyalists and begin the nomination/election campaign. I foresee it working something like this:

1- Initial email notifying all members of the new organizational structure and details of the responsibilities of each committee and the expected terms involved for chairpersons. This should include how the commitees are to function and report to Glenn, etc. The final part of the first email should require a reply in asking for volunteers for the committee chairperson roles and/or spots on the actual committees, as well as the option to volunteer to be assigned to whatever committee the Loyalists need them in, as opposed to being specific.
2- Someone can go through the emails and organize the potential candidates for the chairperson roles. A new email "ballot" is sent out.
3- Responses from the ballot replies are tallied and the results are sent out in the third email. At that point, it should be mentioned, IMO, that the committees are now official, and the respective chairpersons can begin organizing and functioning in their official capacities. All of this can be accomplished before the game on the 23rd, if the right people are placed in charge of this email campaign. However, if it's deemed that we need more time to allow people to access their email and make decisions, we can certainly have this all figured out within two weeks (1 week response waiting period for each of the first 2 emails.)
4- Lastly, those who volunteered to be members of committees can be contacted by the respective chairpersons.

What do you think?

❗

We need to know "officially" when and where the next meeting is. I'll make it, if I can.

Thanks to those who brought me up to speed on the meeting. It sounds like those who were present agreed with most of what we've talked about here in the forum? I'm hoping that those who have this "vision" of the Loyalists can spread it to others who aren't sold on it yet. I hope it's somethign that'll work. I hope Glenn gives the go-ahead on it.

Can some people look at other supporter's groups websites and see if they can steal any ideas from them? Chivas supporters looked really good last night. Can people look at sites from more established groups and see if you can pick up clues to how they're organized, etc.? Anybody?

The next official meeting will be held twice. On July 19th in the team offices probably, and then the next evening, July 20th, in Orem. The same agenda items will be covered, but holding it twice will be more inclusive since not everybody has the same schedule and not everybody lives in the UC. 😉 😉

Indeed my friends, I have ventured far and wide.

In fact, take a look at the links page on the Loyalist site.
www.theloyalists.com/links.htm

I think the best ones to look at are:
Section 8 -Fire
Empire- Metros
MidnightRiders - Revs
Screaming Eagles - DC
Casbah - SJ

Here is another statistic: KC and Craps have no organized Supporters.
Sad, very sad.

BTW I am going to start a new thread, based on this one, sending a call out to potential writers for Loyalist website content.

Anyone interested?

Also,
-I am working on getting TeamGear hooked up to the Loyalist website.
-Hopefully betweem Jules, Hiba and myself we will be using a online shirt store to help us create "other" Loyalist items (besides the normal Loyalist red t-shirt).

I was just wondering. The email sent out said that the meetings were on Wednesday and Thursday the 19th and 20th. Well, the 19th is a Tuesday and the 20th is a Wednesday. So is it the 19th and 20th or Wednesday and Thursday?

Sorry if that didn’t make sense 😛
