As long as it is still Checketts' dream, it may happen, you never know.

What's the possibility of setting up a booth at an RSL game that asks for signatures to support a soccer specific stadium?

We are getting a petition put together. We are going to pass it around our section so that others may sign. After we have enough signatures we are going to take it directly to the front office.

Our main argument is not only the fact that we should have our own stadium, but that it should be in SALT LAKE. Preferably downtown. not Murray and definitely not Sandy.

That is a brilliant idea.

Good job in getting an effort organized. However, I probably wouldn't sign such a petition. I think the FO obviously would prefer to have a stadium smack in the middle of downtown, but is that the solution that will make the most sense financially and in the long-term (maybe it is)? I want them to consider all options and then go with the best one.

I'd rather have a stadium in Sandy in 2008 than a stadium in SLC in 2015.

Yeah, I agree with Bordy. We all may have different ideas on where the SSS should be built, so attempting to garner support for any one location may be an exercise in futility. However, one thing we DO all agree on, is that there should be a SSS. Additionally, I don't think the FO is where this needs to go. They're already on our side. We need to convince lawmakers that there is indeed vocal support behind the idea, and that we can help make them popular if they go along. Even the most altruistic lawmaker (is there such a thing?) will acknowledge the benefit in having the support of a vocal and organized minority behind them. And in this case, the minority isn't that small.

I agree that sooner is better than later. I am going to stick to my guns on the fact that it should be in the center of downtown. Of course we all know that this is my opinion.

I made an effort to talk to Rocky Anderson on the day they announced the team name. I voiced my concern about the stadium, but it seemed as though he kinda didn't care to bring the revenue to downtown.

I am going to call his office again. I will also voice opinion to other council members.

The FO will not be the last stop for our petition. You are right it needs to go further, but it would be nice to send it to them to see our support.

Hey more power to you Sctn37, I hope it works out. I am curious though; when you say "our petition" who exactly are you referring to?
