Mathis: Unwanted hothead or promising attacker?

Everyone seems to have their own opinion of Clint Mathis. Let's discuss.

Mathis is a character, that's for sure, and some people can't stand that about him. But I really like that, and he has still got the same talent he had in his glory days. Did he ever play for Ellinger?

Anyway I look forward to Mathis being a crazy character that scores a bunch of goals for the Crowned ones.

Perhaps someone with a little bit of a crazy character will appeal to the local media alittle more and give them something to talk about.

Perhaps as well Mathis may calm down alittle and just concentrate on playing some good soccer and help win some games.

I´m all for him comming here though if he does.

How can you not like someone who plays with such passion and abandon on the field? I don’t care what Cletus does in his spare time. I simply love the way he plays footy. ATTACKING, among other words, come to mind.

(Besides, SLC could use a little diversity)

Maybe I should post this under the "Off Topic" section. But when I talked to Mathis briefly in 1998 & 1999, he seemed quiet & shy.

But a lot could have changed by then.

Also, where do we put Mathis? Up front? In the midfield?

Maybe Mathis up front & Kreis & Williams behind him? Erick Scott is more of a forward, right?

Does anyone know if Ellinger is going to draft a forward?

Just a couple of comments here.
Andy Williams:
Williams commented after his selection that he anticipated being used as an attacking midfielder. He even stirred the rumor pot surrounding former MetroStars striker and U.S. national team member Clint Mathis, saying that he could "play behind Clint and Jason." Mathis is currently playing for Hannover 96 in Germany.

Ellinger seems to have gone after defenders and forwards in the Expansion Draft, so look to him to go for a good Mid in the SuperDraft. My opinion is that he'll go for Danny O'Rourke of Indiana U.

Of course, I don't know how Allocations and SuperDraft order works.

This is Brilliant!

"My name is Tino Palace, and I am a Cletus-aholic. There, I said it. No matter how many times he tears up a defense and then wears out his welcome, I still come back thirsting for more."

And this too!

"And so I am ready for another bout of my Cletus-aholism. Deep down in places I don't like to talk about, I hope that he goes to RSL, bangs in 25 goals, gets fined for drinking a beer on the bench after Ellinger pulls him too early one game, grows pony-tails like Latrell Sprewell, and dates the mayor's 18-year-old daughter. Okay, I don't know if the mayor has an 18-year-old daughter, but that would be so Cletus."
