Chat System
It was asked for, and it has arrived. I set up a chat system so people can get less done at work. It uses Java to log into an IRC server. If you are familiar with IRC, it is on EFNet in #realsaltlake. if you're not, don't sweat it. It should be easy. Let me know what you think.

I haven't done a lot of testing, so we're bound to run into trouble. Let me know where you hit it, and if it's within my power I'll fix it. And if this system sucks, I can always do another.

If you don't like Neil's java based interface, you could always download mIRC and get to the chatroom that way.

Nice, i can't access it from work but i'll run it from home and let you konw if there's any bugs.

I was able to get into the chatroom (I'm having a great time talking to myself right now), but "certain features" are banned on the network here.

Hate to sound like a licensing cop, but I play one at work... be aware that mIRC requires a license, while not too big an issue at home, in a corporate environment you can get in trouble, so be carefull using this at work. Sorry... just my gut reaction to software licensing.

Try again. Sometimes the servers are "quirky" on irc.

For those who have more of a life than myself and don't know, IRC stands for "Internet Relay Chat"

Type /nick (nickname) to change your nickname
Type /whois (nickname) to get info about somebody (it'll be on the "Status" screen that you can click on at the bottom of the screen
