Keller?

I'd love to see Keller in goal in Salt Lake. He always seems to be in control of the siteation. I believe he will be signed by RSL, based on rumors and anonymous tips I have received. Anyone care to comment?

I'm on the trolley with this as well. I think it'd be great to see Keller playing for Real Salt Lake. We know he'd like to finish his career in the U.S. but he has said himself that he'd like to go to Seattle if a franchise opened up there. I wonder how he would feel about plaing in Salt Lake if Seattle gets a franchise in 2006. It would suck to have someone on the team that doesn't really want to be there.

Speaking of Keller. The Thought of the Day over at 3rd Degree(a Dallas fan site whose name is no longer relevant) talked about Keller today and wonders whether Real Salt Lake will snatch him up. Check it out...

It's near the bottom.

I also would like to see Keller here, but agree that it would not be a good situation if he would rather be some where else. Somebody who is growing on me every day is Bo Oshoniyi currently with KC. He has developed into a great keeper, but he is still the backup to Meola. The odds of him being protected in the expansion aren't very high. He would be a solid pick.

If Keller doesn't come to RSL (which is what I truly think is best for Salt Lake); I am hoping they go for Zach Thornton of the Chicago Fire. If some how the Fire protect him my next choice would be DJ Countess. He has the potential to be big in MLS, but he is a little weak right now, compared to Keller and Thornton. Countess is the best bet if RSL wants to build for the future, as opposed to a better chance of winning NOW.

It doesn't matter if it's relevant, and I think it still is, I have been running the site under that name for 9 years now. I am not changing for two reasons...
1. I can't afford to lose brand recognition I have
[spoiled brat voice]2. It's my name an they can't have it [/spoiled brat voice]

what's not relevant is the name "fan site." I do not get paid for this, but I do work in media. This is a side project. Sure most of our people are fans of the game, but only some of them do this only as a fan.

MatchNight as a whole is a very professional shop that attempts to maintain high standards. Heck your site might be a good fit there.

I think RSL would be crazy to pass on him. I used Keller as the most obvious example of a US player coming back... and to point out how hard it will be for a US player to fall to Dallas at #4 in the allocaiton rank.

PS It looks like Jason Kreis will be exposed... if RSL has any interest.

Damn. I just typed this big reply and then for some reason the forums ate it and didn't post. So here we go again.

Thanks for the kudos on the name. We like it and I'm sure more people will as time goes on.

I'm with you on the white kit for home. I wish it was white so I could wear the white jersey in the sun at the home games and the maroon when I'm inside watching them away. At least it's not black for home games, I'd hate to sit in the desert heat sporting that.

Hehe. I meant no disrespect in reference to the relevancy of the site name. I like the new team name for Dallas, it's just that when I think of 3rd degree and the new logo it makes me think about burning my steak. Which is the 8th deadly sin, as I'm sure a Texan would know.

I stand corrected on the use of "fan site".

I have been contacted by MatchNight but am unclear on the benefits of becoming an affiliate. Do you have some insight as to why it's a good fit?

We'd like to see RSL bring Keller to Salt Lake, but under the right conditions of course.

As far as Kreis goes, it might be nice to have the league's leading goal scorer on the roster, but it all depends on what kind of team Coach Ellinger is trying to build. If he's gunning for youth then we might not see Kreis or Keller.

Steve Pastorino and I were chatting at the Name/Colors announcement and he said they were going to build their style of team around what players they can get. Based on that statement, I'd guess they would take Keller and/or Kreis (if they are available) and build their team from there.

Just speculation.

I think Kreis might be out of juice. If its just leadership and work ethic, I am sure Jason is great, but to have him as our key forward, no way.

I agree. We need a fresh young exciting forward (or 3)... not recycled veterans. Which contradicts the fact that I would love Keller in goal. Maybe we could get Kirilenko in goal (he blocks a lot of shots!) .. if you are unfamiliar with the Utah Jazz, please disregard that comment.
