I don't mean to be a downer, but this really makes me sad.

Maybe it is not technically against the rules of voting, but in a way it kind of makes a mockery of RSL fans. Are we really the best in all of MLS' history?

I read the other threads and I see people complaining that the other fans only cheer for free KFC, or that the team sees fit to spend precious (and expensive) announcer time trying to get the stadium to make some noise. I have stood with the Loyalists and they are spirited, but relatively small in number and volume. It is the only supporters club I have ever been a part of that is frequently dead silent. I think our hearts are totally in the right place, and we are doing what we can, but the best fans in MLS' 10 year history? I am not a total neophyte... I have been to about 100 MLS games (maybe more) and have been a member of 2 other supporters clubs (Midnight Riders and Section 8), 25 USMNT games, countless MISL games (probably in the 200-300 range), various World Cup Qualifiers and international friendlies not involving the US, World Cup matches in 3 countries, lots of West Ham matches, etc.

I understand the sort of ironic/hacker spirit this is being done in, but it still kind of makes me sad. Stuffing a poll for one of our guys (say, a best keeper poll) seems a lot different than stuffing a poll about ourselves.

But on the other hand, I guess we should be allowed to have some fun, since we have the worst offense in MLS. 8 goals makes me so sad, Dad of 8 has that many kids! So, never mind this post. Lets stuff that poll untill we score a goal!

I don't mean to be a downer, but the fact that someone actually gets sad over such things really makes me sad. 🙁

One of the great things about fans is that they basically can't be controlled. Of course there are fan groups that help organize but they don't exercise any type of control. That's the excitement of being a fan and watching fans.

Just curious Old Ska, how many of our games have you been to? There has only been one game we were quiet, and that was a combination of scoreline and exhaustion from the WCQ.

I think that you are taking this poll a little more seriously than it deserves to be taken.

But one thing is for sure, even if you want to argue that we don't have the best fans, it's pretty obvious we have the smartest ones.

I see your point. I also somewhat believe in the principle of maintaining accuracy in polls to reflect a correct picture. Otherwise, what purpose is the poll. However, we all know that internet polls are anything BUT scientific (and yet I still love seeing their results...). It's also VERY satisfying to see your pick beat out the rest. So, while I disagree with "stuffing" on principle, for RSL - let's stuff the crap out 'em!!! :D
